
UNIX Systems Administrator

Overview
An emerging, high-growth company that is a the leader in improving software quality and security, is searching for a highly-motivated, self-directed, and experienced UNIX Systems Administrator to support the build and test automation for a growing, global Engineering department.
This high visibility role is based in San Francisco and reports to the Vice President, Engineering.
Responsibilities:
---> Provide outstanding service to Operations groups within Engineering
---> Purchase, install and configure hardware and software includes - various UNIX and Linux flavors, and various software packages and compilers
---> Solve problems with operating systems, application software, hardware, networking, and performance
---> Maximizing the throughput of the compute farm is of critical value
---> Implement best practices and procedures to minimize risk, outages and data loss
---> Monitor and measure throughput, and continually improve throughput by identifying bottlenecks, infrastructural enhancements etc
Required Technical Experience:
* Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience administering UNIX systems
* Eperience with networking switches, routers, firewalls and protocols, and experience with NetApp (NAS and SAN) iSCSI storage
* Must have thorough knowledge in the following areas:
--- Protocols such as TCP/IP, YP/NIS, NFS, AutoMounter, SSH, HTTP, FTP, DNS, Samba, SNMP and DHCP
--- UNIX and Linux systems such as Solaris, HPUX, and *BSD
--- Knowledge of Windows systems and protocols would also be an advantage
* Strong skills in writing and maintaining shell scripts, using Perl and Bash to automate systems administration tasks
